I have been receiving unsolicited phone calls from Discover Card at various hours each day for quite some time. I have caller ID but while I get a phone number but no name associated with the number.Usually if the call is answered, there is no one to talk to and after 30 seconds or so of silence, the call disconnects and I get a busy signal. On November 13, 2009, I called the number listed on caller ID,1-866-290-6517 and asked the representative that answered to stop the phone calls. I asked to be put on a DO NOT CALL list and he agreed to do that. After 2 more phone calls in the next hour, I sent a message to Discover Customer Service asking again for the calls to stop. After an additional call on the morning of November 14, 2009 at about 10:30AM PST, I received a reply from Discover card stating that my name will be removed from their call list BUT (my emphasis) calls may continue for a short time. My reply was this: I've been called at least 4 times since I asked a customer service representative to remove my name from your call list. I have no problem hitting a delete button and getting immediate results. Perhaps your company needs to upgrade the computers or have a training session for the use of a delete button. Thank you for your quick response but I am keeping track of the number of calls and the time I receive them. I intend on posting the results on my personal webpage with a recommendation that anyone who uses a Discover Card is probably going to face the harassment I have been getting. I will limit my use of my account until I can pay off my balance. I'm looking at credit that has lower interest to use to pay my balance. When I do, I will happily close my account! Thanks again for your response. Please share this reply with higher ups. Maybe they will change their "We don't care about the consumer. Just how much money we can suck out of them!" attitude. To be fair, I got this reply from Discover Card at 1PM PST November 14 which states: Thank you for your message regarding your Discover Card account. I have made a notation of this information on your Discover Card account. We appreciate your business and the time you have taken to contact us today. Thank you for choosing to use Discover Card. Still, I highly recommend that anyone with a Discover Card stop using it and pay off your balance as soon as possible. Until Discover Card quits harrassing it's customers and lowers the interest they charge to rates low enough to afford, I recommend that you do not use the Discover Card at all and cancel your account. I plan to cancel mine as soon as I can. |
